Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat’s cabinet expanded at 5 pm on Friday. During this time, 11 MLAs took the oath of office. These include Bansidhar Bhagat, Satpal Maharaj, Harak Singh Rawat, Subodh Uniyal, Yashpal Arya, Dhan Singh Rawat, Bishan Singh Chufal, Arvind Pandey, Ganesh Joshi, Rekha Arya, and Swami Yatishwaranand. Apart from this, the rest of the old faces will remain in the cabinet. At the same time, Madan Kaushish, who was the most powerful minister in the Trivendra government, has been discharged. The party has entrusted him with the responsibility of the state.
Arvind Pandey, who joined Tirath Singh Rawat’s cabinet, took his oath in Sanskrit. Significantly, Arvind Pandey was working as Education Minister in the cabinet of former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat. At the same time, Ganesh Joshi has joined Rawat’s cabinet as a new face. Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Rekha Arya, Yatish (Independent Charge) have joined as Ministers of State.
It is noteworthy that six-time MLA Banshidhar Bhagat is an MLA from Kaladhungi Assembly of Nainital. Bhagat has been removed from the post of state president and Madan Madan Kaushik has been given the charge of the state president. Now Bandhidhar has got a place in the cabinet.
Bishan Singh Chufal is an MLA from the Didihat seat of Pithoragarh. Five-time MLA Chufal has also been a former state president of the party and a cabinet minister in previous governments. However, he did not become a minister in the previous Trivendra Singh Rawat government.
Currently, MLA from Kotdwar Harak Singh Rawat left the Congress in the year 2017 and joined BJP. Harak Singh has also been a minister in previous Congress governments. Along with this, he was also a minister of the forest, labor as well as AYUSH department in the Trivendra Singh Rawat government.
