The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have taken this decision together. There was a meeting between IPL GC and BCCI on Tuesday.

It has been written on the official website of the IPL that the BCCI does not want to take any risk regarding the safety of the players and support staff associated with this tournament. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the well being of all. This is a difficult time and especially for India. We tried to bring some positivity for the people and entertain them. The tournament is now suspended and all those involved can return to their families.

Earlier, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla told ANI that IPL 2021 has been suspended for the time being. Rajiv Shukla told ANI that IPL 2021 has just been suspended, it has not been canceled. He also said that it has to be seen when it can be rescheduled. Earlier on Monday, Varun Chakraborty and Sandeep Warrier of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were found positive in the Kovid-19 Test, after which the match between KKR and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had to be postponed.

There were reports that all the remaining matches of the IPL will be held in Mumbai, but after Saha’s positive in the Kovid-19 Test, the decision has been taken to suspend the IPL for the time being. A total of 29 matches of IPL have been played so far. Apart from these three players, Covid-19 Test report of Bowling Coach Laxmipathy Balaji from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Camp has also come positive. The IPL 2021 was being played in the Bio Secure Environment. In such a situation, after the players came positive in the Kovid-19 Test, the debate has started on where the lapse has been?
