Female IPS accused of sexual harassment, FIR against former DG: The CID Crime Branch in Chennai on Sunday lodged a complaint against one of their former Special DG Rajesh Das. Former Special Director General of Police Rajesh Das has been charged with sexual harassment. According to sources, an FIR has been lodged against a female IPS officer for sexual harassment.
An FIR has been lodged against Rajesh Das under sections 354, 3 and 4 of the Indian Penal Code. In Tamil Nadu, cases have also been filed against harassment of women under applicable law. The FIR also mentions the name of Chhengalpattu Superintendent of Police D Kannan. According to sources, Kannan tried to stop the complainant woman officer from filing a complaint against Rajesh Das. Because, Rajesh Das was employed in the top post of Kannan at that time.
Rajesh Das has been sent to compulsory waiting after this allegation came to light. However, he has denied all the allegations against him. The incident came to light after Tamil Nadu DGP JK Tripathi ordered a fresh probe into the incident on Saturday. The allegations of the female IPS officer were also investigated.
Under the Sexual Harassment Act, the Tamil Nadu government formed a committee within the police. All such complaints were lodged there and disposed of. But the case was filed only after the female officer lodged a separate complaint with the police. On the other hand, the state women’s commission has also filed a Suyomoto case. Accountability has been sought from the DGP and the state within two weeks. During a visit by the Chief Minister, Rajesh Das and the female officer were engaged at the same time. He was allegedly sexually harassed at the time.
