Bengal elections, BJP-Congress released first list of candidates know who will fight from where: The Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress have released their list of candidates for the West Bengal Assembly Elections on Saturday. While the BJP has announced the names of 57 candidates for the two phases, Congress has released a list of the names of the 13 candidates. This is the first list of both parties. According to the first list of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shubhendu Adhikari will contest from Nandigram.
Significantly, Trinamool Congress President and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has already declared her candidature on this seat. Party general secretary Arun Singh said in a press conference that former Indian cricketer Ashok Dinda and former IPS officer Bharti Ghosh are also among those contesting elections on behalf of the BJP. He said that the party has given one seat to its partner AJSU.
Name of only 60 candidates declared
With this, the party has announced the names of candidates for the remaining seats, except three out of 60 for the first two phases of the elections to be held in the eight phases between 27 March and 29 April. Singh said that there is a “jungle raj” situation in the state and the voters have made up their mind to defeat the Trinamool Congress and bring the BJP to power.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public meeting on Sunday at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. This will be his first rally in West Bengal after the election dates are announced. The agitation against the then Left Front government in Nandigram paved the way for the Trinamool Congress to come to power in 2011. This time in Nandigram, there will be an interesting contest between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party’s former colleague and now BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari.

Adhikari had won this seat in 2016 and recently resigned from the membership of the Legislative Assembly before joining the saffron party. Banerjee has announced to contest from Nandigram leaving her traditional Bhawanipur seat in Kolkata.
The Congress on Saturday released the first list of 13 candidates for the West Bengal assembly elections. The list of party candidates also includes the name of the senior leader of West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee Nepal Mahato who will contest from his current seat, Baghmundi.
The Congress is contesting elections in West Bengal along with the Left parties and the Indian Secular Front. According to the agreement formed in the alliance, Congress will contest elections in 92 seats this time, like in 2016.
West Bengal will be voting in eight phases. Votes will be cast in different regions in the state on March 27, April 1, April 6, April 10, April 17, April 22, April 26, and April 29.
