The railway is keeping a record of the destination address of passengers
Railways have started keeping a record of the addresses of the destinations of all the passengers who booked tickets on the IRCTC website, so that if they later confirm coronavirus infection, then the people in contact with them can be tracked. Officials said that a provision has been made to include the destination address on the IRCTC website from May 13.
Railway spokesperson RD Vajpayee said, “Since May 13, IRCTC is looking at the destinations of all the passengers booking tickets. If the need arises later, it will help in locating the people in contact with the passengers.
He said that it will be applicable in the near future as well. Vajpayee said that in view of the coronavirus epidemic, passengers have to provide their address information for any booking. Earlier, at least 12 people traveling in trains were later found infected with the coronavirus.
2,34,411 passengers booked tickets in special trains
So far 2,34,411 passengers have booked tickets in special trains started by the Railways. Indian Railways has said that under the Passenger Reservation System (PRS), it has earned a total of Rs 45.30 crore so far.
However, it was being said that the railways could start operating mail, express, and Shatabdi trains from 22 May. But now till June, the booked tickets for all trains have been canceled. Explain that due to the lockdown, the railway workers are running special trains for migrant laborers trapped in different states. Apart from this, Railways have also started Rajdhani Special trains.
It was also being said that Shatabdi Special and Intercity Special trains can be run like Shramik and Rajdhani Special. However, there is no statement from the railway on this.
642 laborers special trains operating from May 1
Explain that since May 1, the Railways have operated 642 Shramikar Special trains, which led to eight lakh migrant laborers trapped in various parts of the country due to lockdown. Officials gave this information on Wednesday. The maximum of these trains (301) reached Uttar Pradesh and then Bihar (169).
In other states, 53 trains reached Madhya Pradesh, 40 trains in Jharkhand, 38 in Odisha, eight in Rajasthan, seven in West Bengal, six in Chhattisgarh, and four in Uttarakhand. Three trains each reached Andhra Pradesh, Jammu Kashmir, and Maharashtra, while one each reached Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Manipur, Mizoram, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Tripura.
